Hello World

Hello 3rd Year Design.

So, we're on to the third week already and I'm currently enjoying a play over two briefs that are both due in a short presentation at the end of the week.

The first brief concerns Social Camouflage, with a method of designing tools to help you dissapear within a crowd.

A simple example would be;

But as we all know I never do things simply. And I like electronic things. Thus I'm taking the idea of the society we must camouflage ourselves from as the surveillance society we are currently in, with an aim of designing tools to help camouflage ourselves from the various methods they use to track us.

Example ideas, again, are the idea of camouflage from facial recognition software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facial_recognition_system), or from the soon-to-be-released software of "gait recognition" (http://gtresearchnews.gatech.edu/newsrelease/GAIT.htm)

Brief number 2 is concerned with the relationships between humans and computers.

The relationship between technology and humans is becoming increasingly unclear as
we rely more and more on their presence.

Explore the positive and negative aspects of these relationships; mutual dependencies, failures, rejections, reservations and concerns as well as enjoyment, fond feelings and even passion. Consider what technology can give as well as what it can take away.

Design something to extend, narrow or mediate the relationship humans have with
technology. The outcome can be anything you feel is appropriate to the brief.
